Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Manager, Cloud Platform in the Platform Developer Experience (DevX) Services team. The DevX team oversees our customer’s developer journey from discovery to building at scale. We aim to provide an onboarding experience which is intuitive and organized, that developers can discover product details, learn implementation specifics, and develop independently. As an Engineering Manager, you'll be a technical leader and people manager, responsible for guiding the team to technical decisions for production services, helping prioritize and organize the team's work, and providing career growth and mentorship opportunities to your team.

Your Responsibilities

• Establish the DevX practice with a vision aligned to organizational goals.
• Develop strategic initiatives to enhance the overall developer experience, to support business objectives and drive technological innovation.
• Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for DevX and track the impact on developer satisfaction and productivity.
• Implement tools and systems necessary for the development and continuous improvement of the DevX practice.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to lead engineers.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in related field required or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree in related field preferred
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing DevX tools such as Developer Portal, Engineering Insights, CI/CD
• 4+ years of AWS experience including building and maintaining services such as EC2, EKS, S3, RDS.
• Knowledge of Harness CI, CD and other products is preferred.
• Proficient in couple of scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, Shell or Ruby.

Your Team   

This is a leadership role that will report to the Director, Cloud Platform. You will have 5 direct reports and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Manager, Cloud Platform, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, AZ. In October 2021, Choice opened a newly constructed world class technology center.

Right now, our associates in Scottsdale, AZ are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
