Job Description
The Role:
The Manager, People Analytics will play a critical role in guiding Morningstar's human capital data capabilities, analyzing this data, and harvesting and sharing insights that support decisions related to our employee experience, workforce, and talent strategies. The role is responsible for the people analytics data functions, and for coordinating with HR and business leaders to inspire change through actionable insights. The role reports to the Head ofStrategy, and Analytics within Morningstar's People & Culture (HR) function and will work closely with technical/systems experts in Workday, Tableau, PowerBI, and Qualtrics to maintain and advance data/analytics capabilities within an articulated people analytics strategy you'll help to develop.
The ideal candidate will have experience within a mature people analytics function and can draw on this experience in charting the path for advancing Morningstar's capability. You will be a strong collaborator with a natural ability to get to the heart of core questions/problems, design research/analytics programs around those problems, execute research plans, develop insights based on the research outputs, and then communicate insights in a manner that is appropriate and actionable for the relevant decision-making audience. Depending on the nature of the analysis/insight, your stakeholders may include employees, managers, HR leadership, Finance leaders, and executive leadership.
This role is based in our Chicago, Toronto or Madrid office. We are operating in a hybrid environment (3 days/in office).
What You'll Do:
- Demonstrate thought leadership on current research approaches and innovative solutions for assessing and measuring the employee experience and talent lifecycle from pre-hire to exit.
- Partner with HR leadership to design and deliver insights that will inform strategy and help execute on workforce/talent initiatives.
- Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to identify key business/human capital questions and develop analytics solutions to address them.
- Support the design and execution of a holistic employee listening strategy, including design and administration of pulse, lifecycle, and ad hoc surveys, and integration of insights across the talent lifecycle.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on trends, benchmarks, and standard processes to drive the company's long-term talent strategy and effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating existing analytics processes and recommending enhancements or new methodologies.
- Analyze workforce and talent data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in areas such as recruitment, retention, performance, and diversity & inclusion.
- Interpret complex data sets and communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
- Partner with HRBPs, business leaders, and other stakeholders to deliver quarterly engagement survey and organizational health insights, analysis,
- Translate metric priorities into designs/ideas for new dashboards and key reports with compelling visualizations and storytelling to help guide decision-making regarding talent and organizational practices
- Extract HR, finance, and business data from enterprise technology platforms, and format/wrangle data for analysis and visualization
- Develop metrics and KPIs to monitor the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of HR programs
- Design and develop interactive reports and dashboards to distill large volumes of data into a user-friendly presentation of key insights
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years business experience, with 3-5 years in a data/people analytics function
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis, data modeling, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative research methods, forecasts, and predictions.
- Proven knowledge of, and experience with, end-to-end talent lifecycle measurement and employee experience listening programs.
- Ability to integrate, analyze, and effectively communicate insights to all levels of the organization, making complex information accessible and compelling through well-organized storyboards, graphics and visual outputs.
- Experience navigating a global company where cultures, time zones, priorities, and language create interesting challenges for advancing work.
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy, with an exceptional results orientation and demonstrated personal initiative and customer centric perspectives.
- Ability to take a design thinking approach to optimize solutions.
- Adaptable to work with shifting priorities and comfort operating in an evolving, fast paced environment.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and plan, organize and carry out multiple, detailed tasks.
- Working knowledge of HR/analytics systems including Workday, Adaptive Planning, Cornerstone, PowerBI, Qualtrics EX, and AI tools; more intensive knowledge/experience of these systems is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (including functions, macros, and pivot tables)
- Knowledge of human resources practices, techniques, and standards is a plus
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
