As part of the Grid Integration Division, the High Voltage Engineering team delivers pre-construction engineering and construction/commissioning engineering for High Voltage facilities associated with renewable energy power plants. Voltage ranges from 35kV up to 500kV. We are currently looking for a technical and team-oriented Power System Analysis Manager with a strong emphasis on steady and transient stability studies together with a solid background in substation and power plant design. The engineer for this position should enjoy the versatility of technical tasks with a strong focus on understanding grid integration requirements for renewables. This is a solid opportunity for an engineer who not only is proficient in technical engineering aspects but enjoys building and maintaining relationships with consultants, EPCs, and Power Utilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and approval of steady and dynamic state studies including load flow and reactive power, power quality harmonics, insulation coordination, and Transient Overvoltage (TOV).
- Use PSS/E, PSCAD, and ETAP on a day-to-day basis to verify study assumptions, input information, and study results.
- Review of HV Substation designs and MV collection systems for Renewable plants.
- Contact major equipment manufacturers to obtain the right electrical parameters for equipment modeling.
- Provide training on power system studies topics to the organization.
- Review of PQ curves for both inverter-based technologies and wind turbines.
- Advice external consultants on any issues that appear technically incorrect or inconsistent with power system studies.
- Growth opportunity for a leadership role within the engineering team.
- Work with a project team including HV Engineering, Project Engineering (Solar, BESS, Wind), Project Management, and NERC compliance, to ensure good quality of power system studies.
- Travel and fieldwork 10%.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.S. Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Systems.
- 7+ years of power systems analysis in steady state and dynamic simulations.
- 5 years of experience studying grid integration of Renewable Energy Plants.
- Proficient use of PSCAD, PSS/E, and ETAP.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
- Ability to manage external consultants.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience developing and/or reviewing grounding studies in CDEGS.
- Experience with SCADA controls.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $120,000 and $144,500/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
