Manager, Pricing Exceptions

What is the opportunity?

RBC Home Equity Financing (HEF) is the leading lender of residential mortgages in Canada with over $400 Billion in assets. The Home Equity Financing Pricing team is key to ensuring strong profitable growth of the HEF portfolio by setting pricing strategy for all mortgages and secured lines of credit, executing pricing changes, and supporting the sales force through the decisioning of all Home Equity pricing exception requests. The mortgage market is quickly changing in response to competitive and regulatory pressures, as well as shifting client expectations. To support our partners in achieving premium market growth, we must respond by evolving our pricing strategies and by ensuring we have a strong, collaborative relationship with our Sales Partners. The team is also responsible in decisioning pricing exception requests for personal loans products.

The Manager, Pricing Exceptions, Home Equity Finance is responsible for managing pricing exceptions across Canada. The role is critical in supporting our sales partners to win in the market while ensuring that revenue targets are met. 
The role requires seasoned negotiation skills and a deep understanding of the Home Equity Finance business and our financial models. Strong communication skills and a bias toward customer satisfaction are critical in this role in order to build a strong and trusted relationship with the sales force.

What will you do?

• Supports the Director Pricing Strategies Home Equity Pricing, by executing the pricing strategy for Residential Mortgages and Secured Credit Lines

• Reviews and approves rate exception requests in excess of sales leaders’ authorization levels.

• Provide detailed strategic competitive analysis on pricing.

• Provides Competitive Intelligence (mystery shop, web sites, offer analysis)

• Assists with initiatives/projects as they arise.

• Provides backup support to Manager, Program Processes and Exceptions (reviewing exceptions to our In-Market Mortgage Offers)

• Provides strategic detailed market competitive analysis for both Pricing and In-Market Offers

• Provides market insight on sales force behaviour & economics.

• Provides input on sales force tools and communication as it relates to pricing and rate negotiation.

• Assists the Senior Director and Director Pricing in responding to client and employee concerns.

• Identifies any gaps negatively impacting client satisfaction and recommends changes for improvement.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have: 

• Strong knowledge of the mortgage sales process (8+ years)

• Mortgage (Branch or MS) sales experience (8+ years)

• Strong written and verbal communication

• Strong negotiation skills

Nice to have:

• University Degree or extensive related work experience

• Proven management/coaching skills.

• Fluently bilingual in French is an asset.
