Job purpose

The Purchasing Manager leads the development and management of local and regional commodity strategies designed to leverage BorgWarner collective purchasing power and maximize synergistic opportunities to drive supplier performance and reduced total supply costs while meeting our technology expectations throughout the supply chain. In addition, this position will ensure commodity plan deliverables meet designed strategies, negotiate key supplier contracts, and provide leadership in the communication, implementation, coordination, and enforcement of commodity strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversees/manages and leads a team of direct reports.
• Manages talent within team including conducting performance reviews.
• Develop supplier capabilities to meet BW requirements.
• Provides guidance and approval of basic supplier agreements.
• Manages and negotiates price increases from supply base.
• Coordinates commodity and supplier strategies with the global/regional supply chain teams
• Coordinates supplier relationship with internal functions (i.e. troubleshooting).
• Delivers budget, forecasts and LRP for their area of responsibility.
• Responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of location(s) specific strategies and commodity forecasts.
• Ensures cost and performance objectives in line with existing strategies.
• Drives cost reductions within the supply chain, collaborates with internal engineering and program management teams on VA/VE activities.
• Responsible for talent/organization development.
• Develops and implements business process improvements.
• Oversees purchase of all raw materials and equipment.
• Develops policies and procedures to ensure timely acquisition of materials in a cost-effective way.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Purchasing and Supply Chain
• Relevant experience supervising a group
• Strong functional and technical Skills
• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
• Ability to provide functional leadership
• CPM/CPIM certifications is a preferred
