ABOUT THE ROLE
Term: Full-Time Salaried Position
Location: Crescent Builds Office & In-Field
Reports To: Principle – August Bergdahl
Leader To:Team of Skilled & Developing Carpenters
Salary:$40.00 - $48.00 Plus Bonus Potential & Benefits

The Managing Carpenter leads the in-house carpentry team with a focus on craftsmanship, quality, efficiency, and alignment with Crescent Builds’ standards. This role blends hands-on expertise with leadership, mentoring team members, managing resource allocation, and ensuring successful execution of carpentry and construction across our projects.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Build & Manage Team of Carpenters
• Manage, train, and develop Carpenters; manage team performance against expected job description and tasks. Execute this through regular interactions, development plans, and scheduled check-ins.
• Organize, develop and schedule individual & team carpenter trainings to improve skillsets and implement consistent construction strategies that align with CB and industry standards.
• Stay informed on leading-edge building techniques, materials, tools, and best practices.
• Lead hiring efforts for the carpenter team, including updating job descriptions and job postings in alignment with CB templates and culturally aligned language. Work with CB’s administration resources to screen, interview, and onboard hired candidates.
• Work with administration to manage general HR for carpenter team including approving PTO, review & approve time-clock data, tool reimbursement program, etc.
Collaborative Planning & Forecasting
• Work with Development Team on project contract packages to provide input on labor requirements and constructability/carpentry direction.
• Manage and plan labor allocation for CB carpenters across all Production and Service projects – maintaining a steady 2-month forecast.
• Work with Project Manager and Service team to identify resource allocation needs, solutioning any conflicts or issues – escalating when appropriate.
Day-to-Day Carpentry and Construction Site Success
• Perform regular and routine site visits of CB projects to assess future carpentry strategy, conduct quality assurance, and review site conditions (consult with Project Leads & Project Manager as needed).
• Develop, implement and quality control CB carpentry standards – work with Designers and Principals to build collaborative standards for execution in the field.
• Troubleshoot and solution onsite constructability and carpentry escalated issues.
• Manage and implement safety programs and standards for production sites, meeting both state and federal requirements.
• Manage and implement on-site standards including CB signage, job-site cleanliness & organization standards, etc.
• Manage CB tools, vehicles and equipment ensuring function, organization and maintenance.
• Support Production PM and Project Leads in client communication and care as needed - attend client status if required.
• When required, complete carpentry tasks for production & service based projects.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
• Participate in Administration Tasks; Updating team allocation for coming weeks and communicating assignments.
• Perform a job site walk-through to quality check production work - providing praise and/or constructive feedback to team members.
• Work with a Designer to confirm cabinet shop drawing package and create a cabinet install strategy.
• Have a monthly 1:1 with a team member to review development-plan steps and actions.
