Managing Editor

GameSkinny is the video game destination for guides, community news, features, listicles, and reviews. Currently, we're seeking a Managing Editor to lead our mission to create informative, interesting, and high-quality content. You'll be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, work alongside the Content Director on top-level editorial strategy, and mapping a clear future for the website.

GameSkinny is a part of the GAMURS Group network, which prides itself on having international teams filled with passionate and dedicated members. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals experienced in journalism, editorial writing, and especially writing about the games industry. This is a leadership position, where you will manage, engage with, and grow the site's staff along with handling pitches, assignments, and ensuring high quality articles are being published.

What you'll do:

• Manage staff performance, reviews, disciplinary actions (when needed), and time off requests
• Assign and edit stories
• Hire and train new writers & editors
• Manage, implement, and improve all GameSkinny staff documents, including training docs and style guides
• Work with the Content Director and other Gamurs staff to identify new coverage areas for GameSkinny, and execute strategies to build out these areas
• Increase site traffic, as measured by Sessions and MAU growth, on an ongoing basis

What we're looking for:

• Two or more years in a senior writing or editorial role
• A knowledge of the gaming industry that is demonstrably deep
• Experience covering major game releases and live service games with various types of articles (listicles, guides, etc.)
• Experience growing a website with strategic and high quality content
• Knowledge of AP Style
• Familiary with WordPress, Slack, Trello, Chartbeat, and Google Analytics
• Existing PR and talent connections within the industry are a bonus!

Pay range: $45,000-55,000 (USD) depending on skills, experience, and location. Salary range may differ for international candidates, based on location
