Overview
Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment on various types of marine vessels. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, marine regulations, and safety standards. The Marine Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and safety of electrical systems on all vessels.
Key Responsibilities
• Install new electrical systems and electronic equipment, including wiring, lighting, radar, navigation systems, audio systems, power distribution, and communication systems on marine vessels.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of electrical systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely. Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components such as generators, battery charging system and breaker panels.
• Fabricate components as needed to meet specific project requirements.
• Operate power tools and other equipment safely and efficiently.
• Update and upgrade existing electrical systems to meet current regulations and improve performance.
• Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with marine regulations, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
• Work closely with other team members to coordinate electrical work and ensure smooth completion of assigned projects.
Qualifications and Skills
• Experience: Previous experience as an electrician, preferably in a marine environment. Knowledge of marine electrical systems, including AC and DC systems, is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Skilled in using electrical testing equipment and tools.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work to ensure all installations and repairs are completed to the highest standards.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members.
• Physical Stamina: The ability to work in physically demanding environments, including hot/cold weather, confined spaces and at heights.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as Marine Electrician Certification, are a plus.
Work Environment
You may be required to travel to different locations and work in various weather conditions. The job can be physically demanding, involving lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
