Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and skilledShipboard Electricianto join our team. This position is responsible for theinstallation, repair, testing, and hook-upof electrical equipment and services on ships. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing shipboard electrical systems (600 volts and below) in line with specifications, drawings, and applicable codes. Key Responsibilities • Install, repair, test, and maintain shipboard electrical systems and equipment. • Run cables, lines, and leads; perform terminations and connector fabrication; pack cable transits; harness cables aboard vessels. • Prepare work areas by drilling holes, grinding metal surfaces, and inspecting cableways and equipment. • Test internal circuits for continuity, short circuits, and grounds; measure electrical quantities and compare with specified values. • Inspect and maintain mechanical and electrical connections, including mounting bolts, screws, trip shafts, toggle linkages, disconnect devices, and control wiring. • Detect and locate grounds, open circuits, and short circuits in distribution generators and systems. • Maintain and repair shipboard telephones, circuits, and related equipment. • Install new power and lighting circuits as needed. • Implement proper Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures. • Understand and use applicable sections of IEE, ABS, Coast Guard regulations, manufacturer’s technical manuals, and ship’s information books. • Follow OSHA standards and all company safety practices; wear all required PPE. • Keep work areas clean and safe at all times. • Work shifts and overtime as assigned. • Carry out instructions from supervisors in written, oral, or diagram form. • Provide high-quality work and objective quality evidence (OQE) as required. Qualifications • Must have a working knowledge of basic electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and specifications. • Familiarity with IEE, ABS, Coast Guard, and other applicable standards. • Able to safely operate and maintain electric shop equipment, hand tools, and portable power tools. • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole numbers, fractions, decimals). • Must possess the skills of subordinate labor grades in the electrical class. • Must be physically and medically able to wear all required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.). • Must comply with company non-discrimination and anti-harassment policies. • Must be able to work well as part of a team, follow instructions, and resolve unexpected issues professionally. • Minimum of3 years of related shipboard electrical installation and repair experiencepreferred.
