Master Carpenter - Commercial Casework

Established custom shop now hiring for Master Carpenter - Interior Architectural Woodwork • Prior job experience of 10 years minimumin this positionis required • Applicants must have vast knowledge of carpentry trade with a focus on cabinet making. • Be able to build a variety of carpentry items including, but not limited to, casework, countertops, paneling, millwork, doors, basic furniture (tables, drawer chest, etc.) • Able to work with a variety of materials incorporated into the products produced (laminate, veneer, lumber, acrylic, finish metals, etc) • Ability to identify the following for lumber and veneer sheets: Wood species, Aesthetic characteristics (sapwood, heartwood, grain patterns, figuring), Methods of sawing, Dimensional stability, Hardwoods vs. Softwoods • Strong knowledge of mathematics required for custom carpentry • Expertise in all types of joinery and processes for bonding materials • Expertise in using spray adhesives and glueing-up technique • Ability to prep woodwork for the finishing department using wood fillers and sanding tools so that they are ready to stain/paint • Ability to read blue prints / shop drawings, assess the design, note material needs and provide necessary feedback to management for any errors, discrepancies or issues with designed product(s) • Expertise to safely operate power tools and shop machinery associated with this trade • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for at least 4 hours a day before and after breaks • Knowledge of automated shop machinery (cnc, edgebander, etc.) is a plus, butnotrequired • Maintain a clean work area for safe work environment • Be willing to share trade knowledge and provide advice for co-worker's projects. Training of apprenticesnot requiredbut favorably viewed by management in value of employee. • Normal hours for shop workers are 6:30am - 3:00pm.Must be availableto work some overtime during week days or Saturdays, when necessary,with prior notificationfrom management.
