Summary

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driverβs license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license within 90 days from appointment.
- May be required to guide and train lower graded personnel.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and any subsequent reoccurring examinations required.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Inspecting metals and utilizing magnets to properly identify recyclables received, which includes ferrous and non-ferrous metals (i.e. stainless steel, aluminum, copper, or tin); 2) Scheduling materials pick up and/ or drop off for release to the contractor; and 3) Utilizing established safety practices, regulations and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.
The employee may be required to work overtime.
Physical Effort: Performs moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds when moving material. They walk and stand for prolonged periods. The work requires bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling heavy materials.
Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors/outdoors on a year round basis. Examiners may be subject to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, cuts, bruises, abrasions, and scrapes in moving or handling materials and equipment and are subject to hazards involved in working in proximity to moving equipment such as forklifts, trucks, etc. May be required to wear personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, hard hats, steel-toed shoes and gloves.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
Several vacancies may be filled.
