Mechanical Designer for HVAC/Plumbing (4+ Year Experience)

Primary Focus:Coordinate design deliverables, resolve technical issues, and mentor junior team members. Experience needed in HVAC/Plumbing Design and project BIM/Revit management. Mechanical Designer for HVAC/Plumbing (4+ Year Experience) Summary:Designer contributes to the development and coordination of MEP design documentation with a high level of autonomy. These individuals are not licensed engineers but have developed advanced technical proficiency and leadership within project teams. At this level, Designers take responsibility for quality, coordination, and mentoring while supporting the broader goals of the engineering team. Responsibilities: • Create, review, and modify complex design drawings in AutoCAD and Revit. • Prepare and oversee design layouts and schematics with minimal supervision. • Perform and check calculations and system designs for accuracy and compliance. • Coordinate design efforts across multiple disciplines and stakeholders. • Lead drawing package development and documentation for proposals and reports. • Participate in and sometimes lead coordination meetings with engineers, clients, and other consultants. • Provide quality control and peer review support for junior staff. • Mentor and train junior designers to ensure consistency in standards and practices. • Monitor and manage deadlines for assigned design tasks. Competencies: • Technical Leadership • Communication (verbal and written) • Team Collaboration • Time Management • Problem Solving • Mentorship • Accountability • Attention to Detail Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in drafting, design, or equivalent years of relevant experience in HVAC/Plumbing Mechanical Design may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. • Proficiency in CAD and BIM tools, including AutoCAD and Revit, required. • Experience: 4+ years • Demonstrated ability to lead design development tasks independently. • Proven ability to coordinate across disciplines and mentor junior team members.
