Description
The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM), St. Louis, MO seeks applicants for a faculty member to serve as the Medical Director of Infection Prevention for BJC HealthCare. This position offers considerable opportunities for leadership, growth, mentorship, research, and collaboration within an academic hospital and its affiliated large, regional healthcare system.
Scope of BJC HealthCare (Eastern Region):

Washington University School of Medicine:
- Large, thriving ID Division with 89 faculty, 13 APPs, and 10 ID fellows
- Department of Medicine ranked 6th in the nation for NIH Blue Ridge funding
- CDC Prevention Epicenters program funded since 1997
- Provide strategic clinical and epidemiological leadership and support to BJC HealthCare infection prevention teams
- Provide direction for facility-based and regional IP teams and medical directors on prevention of and emergency response to infectious threats
- Lead all aspects of the work of the Infection Prevention teams across the BJC Healthcare system
- Provide direction for the Occupational Health team for infectious risks as indicated
- Provide clinical and epidemiologic guidance to other relevant teams and councils as needed, such as Patient Experience, Epic, Emergency Management, Patient Safety, Chief Medical, Nursing, and Operating Officer councils
- Participate in system-wide leadership meetings as indicated
- Engage in emergency and pandemic responses through Incident Command structures
- Report to and work with the Chief Quality Officer for BJC HealthCare
- Work with the infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship teams in the ID Division at Washington University
Responsibilities of Infectious Diseases Faculty Members at Washington University:
- Clinical service on the ID Consult service
- Participate in teaching and research activities in the ID division
- Mentor ID fellows (particularly those on the Healthcare Epidemiology fellowship training track)
