Microsoft Fabric Data Architect/Engineer

Overview We’re seeking a seasoned Microsoft Fabric Data Architect/Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of data platforms on Microsoft Fabric. This pivotal role drives data innovation and enables analytics, AI, and business intelligence across the organization.Only candidates residing in Chicago, Texas, Florida, Indiana, or Georgia will be considered. Key Responsibilities Data Architecture & Engineering • Architect and implement end-to-end data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric workloads, including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Real-Time Analytics. • Manage structured and unstructured data within OneLake using Delta format and shortcuts. • Build semantic models and data marts optimized for Power BI and AI consumption. • Use the Fabric Spark engine (PySpark, Spark SQL) for data transformation and processing. • Leverage Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Fabric Warehouse/SQL endpoints for analytical workloads. AI Enablement & Governance • Build and deploy conversational data agents using Fabric Copilot with Azure AI integration. • Enforce data governance and compliance via Microsoft Purview and OneLake governance tools. • Establish CI/CD pipelines for Fabric workloads and automate deployment workflows. Performance & Platform Strategy • Optimize performance and scalability of data pipelines, models, and queries. • Guide workspace strategy, tenant configuration, and capacity planning aligned to best practices (e.g., Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework). Collaboration • Partner with IT team members (DBAs, infrastructure, etc.) to align architecture with departmental standards. • Work closely with business stakeholders (e.g., Financial Analytics Manager, Data/Business Analysts) to define requirements and deliver solutions. Required Qualifications • 5–10+ years in data architecture/engineering, including2+ years hands-on with Microsoft Fabricand at least one successful Fabric implementation in production. • Proficiency with: • Microsoft Fabric workloads:Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Real-Time Analytics • Languages/engines:PySpark, Spark SQL, and/or T-SQL • Storage & architecture:OneLake, Delta Lake, Lakehouse patterns • Warehousing:Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Fabric Warehouse/SQL endpoints • Power BI:semantic modeling, DAX, and visualization best practices • Governance:Microsoft Purview configuration and policies • Strong foundation in data modeling (medallion architecture, semantic layers), ETL/ELT, real-time pipelines, and governance frameworks. • Experience establishing CI/CD and DevOps workflows for data infrastructure. • Excellent communication skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
