Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education Teacher role is available for middle school grades 6-8, specializing in math instruction within a Special Day Class (SDC) setting. This contract position spans the entire school year and is located in San Diego, CA.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The schedule encompasses four teaching periods focused on middle school math and one preparation period to support lesson planning and grading activities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering targeted math instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of SDC students in grades 6 through 8.
• Developing comprehensive lesson plans and managing grading for assigned classes.
• Serving as the case manager for up to 28 students, overseeing individualized education program (IEP) development, coordination, and compliance.
• Leading IEP meetings, collaborating with parents, educators, and service providers to ensure student progress and support.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed records for all students under your case management.
Qualifications and desired experience:
• Valid California Special Education teaching credential with authorization to instruct middle school students.
• Strong background in teaching math to students with special needs, particularly in an SDC environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing IEPs and coordinating related meetings.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and communicate clearly with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and caseloads efficiently.
