Department:Welding / Fabrication
Reports To:Welding Supervisor / Shop Foreman
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-consciousMIG Welderto join our fabrication team. The MIG Welder will be responsible for usingMetal Inert Gas (MIG) weldingtechniques to fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings. The ideal candidate will have strong welding experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform MIG welding on mild steel based on job requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine weld layout and specifications.
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, and fitting components as needed.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment, including voltage, wire feed speed, and gas flow.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and structural soundness using visual and measurement tools.
• Perform repairs or rework on welds that do not meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of welding equipment and materials.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with other team members in production, fabrication, and quality control.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proven experience as a MIG welder in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Skilled in using hand tools, grinders, clamps, and measuring instruments.
• Strong understanding of welding safety standards and procedures.
• Able to work in a physically demanding environment (e.g., standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, exposure to heat and sparks).
• Good attention to detail and quality.
Preferred Experience:
• Certification in welding (AWS or equivalent) is a plus.
• Experience with other welding methods (TIG, Stick, Flux Core) is beneficial.
• Familiarity with welding on different materials (aluminum, stainless steel).
• Experience working in a sheet metal, structural steel, or custom fabrication shop.
Working Conditions:
• Industrial shop environment with exposure to noise, welding fumes, and hot surfaces.
• PPE required, including welding hood, gloves, work boots, and protective clothing.
• May require occasional overtime or weekend shifts based on production needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
