Motion Designer

As a Motion Designer in our WongDoody production studios, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams in the execution of high-quality digital videos for use across a variety of client platforms. Our production teams are responsible for bringing our best creative ideas to life through smart visual storytelling and a strong commitment to craft. As a Motion Designer on our team, you will work from creative direction along with scripts, boards and more to develop tight digital mechanical files that adhere to brand standards. You will be responsible for upholding accuracy and brand alignment while exhibiting good time management and delivering pixel-perfect project files.

The right candidate will have a strong design point of view with advanced knowledge in After Effects and a desire to further develop your budding 3D skills. You are a natural problem-solver, energized by opportunities to dive deeper into new technologies, research the latest plug-ins, or generally figure out the best ways to execute any creative idea. You are inherently curious, unafraid of troubleshooting technical hurdles in the workflow or pushing your production skills into new territories like 3D or immersive tech. You GO! And your project files are meticulously organized. You swoon over a good file naming convention. I’m getting chills here! What you'll do:

• Execute new typographic/animated treatments, integrating with 2D and 3D elements, footage, and stills
• Help find creative solutions for 3D execution and run R&D to test effectiveness
• Ensure brand alignment and specification accuracy for every digital output
• Reformat existing animation treatments to new sizes and specifications
• Leverage current plug-ins and encoders to export pixel-perfect deliverables
• Provide rigorous quality control throughout the production process, taking care to build smart project layer comps and maintain meticulous folder structures
• Adhere to agency’s best practices for asset management, file prep, review links, and regular status updates to team members
• Help manage the MGFX workflow for larger animation projects with multiple production resources or teams, communicating often with collaborators like art directors, producers, project managers, and account teams
• Keep up with a shared graphic elements library, archiving digital project files, and troubleshooting graphic systems issues or production challenges, as required
• Keep on top of software advancements while making a continuous effort to expand additional software proficiencies (Premiere, C4D, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)

What you've got: 

• 2-4+ years of experience in motion design and video production with particular responsibilities in designing with After Effects
• Advanced knowledge of After Effects and popular plug-ins
• A developing knowledge of C4D and familiarity of the tools within the broader 3D ecosystem
• Experience with workflow in a post-production environment and strong grasp of graphics workflows to and from After Effects, including Premiere, Illustrator, C4D, etc.
• Professional portfolio/reel, ideally including B2B and B2C deliverables in standard and unusual screen sizes/shapes
• A deep understanding of and appreciation for the art of storytelling through motion graphics, video, and music/audio
• Comfort with Adobe Premiere, and basic editing practices
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Excellent organizational and communication skills required

Nice to have:

• Working knowledge of Cinema4D, and a familiarity with render passes and compositing 3D elements within After Effects
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Interest in AI, emerging tech, and next generation graphics platforms (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
