Position Overview

Raymour Flanigan's Systems Team is looking for someone who is a positive influence and can provide technical leadership, expertise and guidance in an effort to continue the team's role of excellence. The MS SQL Administrator is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. Their main goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and perform system maintenance, software installations and upgrades, patch management and documentation.
• Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities.
• Develop, implement and test database backup and recovery policies and procedures.
• Managing database growth, data purging/archiving.
• Hardware / software lifecycle management for upgrades or replacements.
• Work with systems team to regularly update and adjust our technology strategic plan to assure we meet and are aligned with our business objectives.
• Conduct hardware and software research and evaluations to determine if they will deliver their value and meet our needs.
• Work with systems team to automate regular management tasks and streamline processes.
• Support our user's needs, including troubleshooting, account maintenance and training.
• Maintain and monitor systems in our 24 x 7 environment to assure they are operating at optimal efficiency.
• Establish system specifications by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.
• Secure systems by developing system access, monitoring, control, evaluation and maintaining documentation.
• Lead and participate in the conceptual phases of identifying and solving business problems and initiatives
• Work with business departmental teams to help define and document business requirements for new metrics and reports.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Always act and communicate with our internal customers professionally and with an empathetic customer centric attitude.
• Perform additional functions that may be assigned at the discretion of management.

Required Skills and Experience

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
• 3-5 years experience as SQL Server DBA or similar role
• Strong knowledge of Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
• Working knowledge of backup, restore and recovery models
• Experience with MSFT Clustering, HA, DR, Mirroring and other resiliency technologies
• Knowledge of Windows server, including Active Directory
• Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company's success
• Good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
• Microsoft Certified Professional, DBA - MS SQL Certification a plus
• Deep understanding of SQL Server monitoring technologies, such as Idera
• Exceptional analytical and debugging skills
• Must be a team player and be able to communicate well with the IT team and stakeholders

• Linux/Unix knowledge and experience a plus
• PowerShell/scripting a plus
