What You'll Get to Do:

CACI is looking for a Computer Systems Engineer with experience in Linux/Mac/Windows computer systems, IT security, DevOps and networking to work with our Computer Systems Engineering team supporting NASA's human-rated spacecraft systems in support of our Nation's space exploration initiative at NASA / Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Candidates should have background in Linux, Windows, or Mac system administration, an interest in computer systems engineering and cyber security, and, most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation's exploration of space.

As a Computer Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team that provides a range of computer systems support to our NASA customer including user support, security management, network design and operation, account management and provisioning, operation of IT infrastructure services, computing equipment setup, and subject matter expertise for NASA projects.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, possess strong customer relationship skills, have a positive team-player attitude, and be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.

More About the Role:

Job responsibilities include:

  • Support the full lifecycle of end-user and server computer systems including procurement, operating system installation, security configuration, application installation, and inventory tracking.
  • Respond to customer requests for changes, fixes, and other user support.
  • Maintain the development toolchain for hardware and software engineering teams. Generate documentation and advise customers on best practices for using available tools.
  • Monitor systems for security vulnerabilities and remediate findings.
  • Work with robotic, space vehicle, and simulation development teams to design computer systems that meet NASA security standards and project requirements. Use modern configuration management tools and techniques to implement system designs.
  • Generate, review, and update cyber security documents such as security plans, interconnection agreements, disaster recovery plans, risk assessments, continuous monitoring reports, waivers, and incident reports.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to US Government facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related disciplines required.
  • Must have proficiency using the Linux operating system and systems management knowledge for the Linux, Mac, and/or Windows operating systems.
  • Must have knowledge of foundational network technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and client/server communication.
  • Must have experience with Linux configuration management with tools such as Puppet and Ansible.
  • Must have Experience working closely with software development teams and administration of software development tools such as Artifactory, Docker, GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, and Jira.
  • Must have experience designing, implementing, and optimizing DevOps pipelines in GitLab, Jenkins, or other systems.
  • Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
  • Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cyber Security, or Graduate level coursework or research involving information systems or cyber security.
  • Software development and scripting skills with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or other languages. Familiarity with Git version control.
  • Experience writing technical documentation and maintaining a knowledge base.
  • IT certifications such as ITIL Foundation, RHCSA, LPIC, CCNA, or SSCP.
  • Project management skills.
  • Familiarity with FISMA and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Experience with IT security plan development, documentation, and assessment.
  • Experience in any of the following is a plus: Service Now, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Group Policy, Puppet, Ansible, PowerShell, Tenable SecurityCenter, HCL BigFix, Apache web server, Nginx, Elastic Stack, PostgreSQL.

Experience in the NASA/JSC environment or other highly technical environment is a plus.
