What You'll Get to Do:

CACI is looking for a Software / Hardware Integration and Test Engineer to work with the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER), a lunar exploration rover, being developed at NASA / Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Candidates should have a strong interest in spacecraft, hardware / software integration and testing (I&T), systems engineering, and most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation's exploration of space.

This work involves all aspects of software and hardware integration and testing for the VIPER rover. VIPER is a scientific rover that will explore the lunar surface to map out locations with accessible water for harvesting. Its primary mission will be used to identify landing sites for future crewed flights to the moon. This will support NASA's deep-space exploration initiative and the return to the moon. The engineer will support the VIPER software and hardware design and development from conception, design, analysis, integration, through to operational test and certification for operations.

This position will benefit from a hands-on engineer who enjoys working with hardware systems and pursues hands-on hobbies, e.g., private pilot, woodworkers, computer and electronic kit builders, car mechanics, etc.

In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. More About the Role:

Job responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, integrate, and test integrated hardware/software for VIPER.
• Execute, test, and document integration and testing solutions.
• Implement quality assurance activities to meet system performance standards and requirements.
• Troubleshoot testing and system performance issues.
• Work directly with hardware and software developers to understand how test items are used operationally
• Support systems engineering design process and the development of CONOPS.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to USG Facilities.
• B.S. in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines required plus a minimum 10-year experience in integration and testing.
• Experience with software/hardware integration with sensors.
• Experience with real-time, hardware-in-the-loop testing, critical systems testing.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
• Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
• Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• M.S. in Computer, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with the software lifecycle (including concept brainstorming, requirements definition, prototyping, design, analysis, and validation).
• Experience with the Project Management and Design cycle processes, e.g., PDR, CDR, etc.
