What You'll Get to Do:
CACI is looking for an engineer with experience in network integration to support the Lunar Gateway Program at NASA Johnson Space Center. This exciting position involves analyzing spacecraft operations and coordinating with subsystem experts to determine and analyze network data flows required to operate the data-driven Gateway safety critical flight software for autonomous Gateway operation.
The Gateway vehicle will be an outpost orbiting the Moon that provides vital support for a sustainable, long-term human return to the lunar surface, as well as a staging point for deep space exploration. The Gateway is a destination for astronaut expeditions and science investigations, as well as a port for deep space transportation such as landers en route to the lunar surface or spacecraft embarking to destinations beyond the Moon.
This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing future human-rated space vehicles.

Job responsibilities include:
- Gain an understanding of the flight software data requirements including data formats and schemas.
- Analyze vehicle and subsystems operations and identify data dependencies required for autonomous vehicle operation.
- Define Network data flows by analyzing vehicle and subsystems operations, data dependencies, and data throughput required for autonomous vehicle operation.
- Ensure timing characteristics of data flowing across the network align with the flight software execution schedules and provide the right data at the required time to support system operation.
- Determine properties of the onboard network to resolve quality-of-service issues for communicating devices.
- Develop and maintain software tools for network performance assessment and visualization of network utilization.
- Coordinate network issues and resolutions with NASA SMEs, commercial partners, and international partners.
This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines required.
- Experience in defining and evaluating data interactions between systems.
- Experience in programming/scripting or software development and maintenance (Python preferred).
- Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
- Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
- Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Experience with autonomous systems, optimization, network or task scheduling, fault management, or mission planning and execution.
- Experience coordinating technical issues across multiple engineering teams.
- Experience in avionics networks including reliability and timing characteristics of the network.
- Experience with avionics busses, including Time-Triggered Ethernet (TTE), Time-Triggered Protocol (TTP/C), ARINC 664, ARINC 429, or Spacewire.
- Experience in aligning network data flows to Flight Software execution schedules.
- Experience with network scheduling toolchains and network design constraints.
