What You'll Get to Do:
CACI is looking for a NASA Spacecraft Simulation Software Engineer to work with NASA's human-rated spacecraft simulations in support of our Nation's space exploration initiative at NASA / Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Candidates should have great interest in spacecraft simulation, enjoy working with software, and most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation's exploration of space.
This work involves the development, testing, maintenance, and support of Visiting Vehicles Simulation and Training capabilities that meet Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) training requirements. Each spacecraft simulation is a Trick-based dynamic simulation of the Mobile Service System (MSS) containing Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS), Guidance, Navigation, and Control) GNC) for the International Space Station (ISS) and a specific visiting vehicle, and integrated orbital dynamics. The visiting vehicles supported are the new HII Transfer Vehicle (HTC)-X from Japan, the Cygnus vehicle from Northrop Grumman Corp. (NG), and the Dream Chaser (DC) vehicle from Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC).
Individual will utilize the Common Visiting Vehicle (VV) Simulation ("VV Common Sim) that was adapted from the VV Dynamic Skills Trainers (DSTs) and Distributed Simulation (DIS) trainers. A DST is a standalone simulation that is used for flight controller (ground crew) training, flight crew training, and engineering analysis. The DIS trainers use the Trick simulation environment to provide a distributed ISS/VV simulation. Specifically, this task provides simulation development, enhancements, testing, maintenance, and support of the VV Common Sim, which provides the capabilities previously supplied by the individual DST and DIS VV simulation trainers. Support will include integration with Dynamic Onboard Ubiquitous Graphics (DOUG) or Enhanced DOUG Graphics for Engineering (EDGE). The ideal candidate has strong software skills and across multiple languages.
This work takes place in a highly stimulating environment and is critical in the human space exploration initiative. The position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.
