Neonatology Opportunity

Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS) has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Neonatology physician to join our team located in Mishawaka, Indiana.

The selected candidate will join one other Neonatologist and a crew of NNPs. PRN Neonatologists are available when needed. We have a 24/7 Ob/Gyn Laborist program in place; one Maternal Fetal Medicine physician on staff; and one Pediatric Hospitalist on during the day.

The average census is ten; up from three a year ago. Average births per year are 2,000, and continued growth is expected. We have a Level III NICU with 12 private beds. The unit is pro-breast feeding, baby friendly. Our philosophy is a hands-off approach, intervention only when necessary.

The schedule for this full-time opportunity is currently 7 on/ 7 off, 24-hour shifts. The physician is generally available on site during normal daytime hours, and available from home the remainder of the shift.

Familiarity with oscillator, nitric oxide, intubation, chest tube placements, lumbar puncture, ventilation management, invasive (ETT), non-invasive (BiPap/CPAP), exchange transfusions, paracentesis, and thoracentesis is preferred.

Opportunities for teaching exist with our FM residents and other staff.
