Apply now for our neurotrauma fellowship based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
The fellowship is based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), under the supervision of Geoffrey Manley, MD, PhD and Michael Huang, MD. ZSFG is the only Level I Trauma Center for San Francisco and the Northern Peninsula, serving nearly 2 million people in the Bay Area. It is the first and only hospital to receive disease-specific certification in the acute care of traumatic brain injury from the Joint Commission. Additional rotations through the Wilma Chan Highland Hospital in Oakland, California and the UCSF Weill Neurorecovery Clinic provide complementary and comprehensive experiences across inpatient and outpatient care. Â
The fellow will
-Learn surgical and medical treatment strategies for traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, including multimodality monitoring
-Collaborate with members of neurology, pulmonary critical care and neuroradiology to deliver multidisciplinary care
-Contribute to the latest clinical and basic science research advances in the field
-With experience, function with greater independence, and take on increasing leadership roles.Â
The fellow will be actively incorporated into ongoing research projects and will be encouraged to develop individual research interests. In this fashion, the fellow will receive mentored training in clinical neurotraumatology and clinical trial administration. Basic science research opportunities are also available within the UCSF Brain and Spinal Injury Center.Â
