Broadridge Monitoring and Automation team is looking to hire an Observability engineer. The team is responsible for enterprise infrastructure, application, and network monitoring. The selected candidate will be joining a team of highly skilled engineers with a broad background in enterprise monitoring tools and related toolsets.

As an Observability engineer, you will be responsible for the monitoring of our cloud Infrastructure (private, public, hybrid or multi) as it relates to all its components which includes but not limited to network, infrastructure, applications, databases, storage, appliances as well as managing and maintaining the supporting technologies. You will ensure that the monitoring infrastructure is operating and performing at its optimal level by automation.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the deployment and adoption of centralized monitoring and observability tooling.
• Automate the deployment of our monitoring tools globally where applicable.
• Write scripts to execute specific monitoring tasks.
• Able to automate (script, Code, Tool, CI/CD).
• CI/CD pipeline for everything.
• Have an Automation mindset (Automate everything and reduce toil).
• Automate Agent lifecycle (install/upgrade/vulnerability remediation).
• Maintain associated documentation as it applies to our audit and certification requirements
• Participate in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance analysis activities
• Provide monthly reports showing service availability.
• Good to excellent knowledge of Observability tools such as (Datadog, NewRelic, AppDynamics, CA APM and tools, Splunk,ELK, Fluentbit, Fluentd, HP/Microfocus tools, Prometheus, Grafana, others).

Requirements and what it will take for you to succeed in this role:

• BS/MS in CS/engineering or equivalent, OR 3+ years of experience.
• DataDog (or similar monitoring and APM product) expertise
• PagerDuty event centralization and alerting experience.
• Python and bash/shell experience.
• Good working knowledge with Linux OS.
• Excellent at automating tasks by writing code, as well as using CI/CD pipeline.
• 2+ years of experience in a highly complex technical operations environment; directly working with a monitoring tool (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana or others).
• Best practices in infrastructure and application logging, monitoring, intelligent alerting, and automated self-healing.
• Experience with production support, change control, and problem and escalation management.
• Good analytical and problem-solving/troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with engineers across the globe.
• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is the core of this position and what it entails.
