OP Editor - Freelance

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Editor – Post Production (*** This is an open call for freelance video editors to be added to our freelancer talent pool & considered for project-based work ***) This position works remotely and is responsible for Editing episodes for MotorTrend Group – Original Programming content as well as other company video outlets (web, broadcast, etc).  Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Edit original long form programs for digital and linear platforms in AVID (Avid v2020.12.3).
• Bring the creative team’s vision and outline to life by editing together the story, adding motion graphic elements, and incorporating audio and sfx design.
• Understanding of various post-production procedures and the ability to hit deadlines on notes and review cuts.
• Ability to work with lots of different kinds of footage, under tight turnarounds.
• Ensure every video meets MT  distribution standards and is delivered on time.
• Comfortable with creating cut to clock versions of episodes for Linear distribution.

Education/Experience:

• At least 3-5 years previous experience in editing long form video/television
• We are an Avid Post House, proficiency with Avid is required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Mac OS X
• Gdrive and Wiredrive

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and view computer screens

Equipment/Software Used:

• Avid Media Composer, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Resolve, Pro Tools, After Effects, Wiredrive
• GDrive familiarity
• Having your own machine is a plus but not required

Work Environment:

• Work is performed remotely.  Safety guidelines established. Depending on your location, there might be light driving required for hard drive pick ups and drop offs. 

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in California. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of MotorTrend's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
