Position Summary:
Magna Surgical Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivatedOperating Room (OR) Nurse Managerto lead and manage the daily operations of our surgical services department. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical and OR expertise, leadership abilities, and a proactive mindset to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care. This role includes oversight of staffing, patient care coordination, regulatory compliance, supply and equipment management, and integration of technology.

The Role
The OR Nurse Manager plays a critical leadership role in the daily operations of our operating rooms. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that requires clinical expertise, sharp decision-making skills, and the ability to inspire and lead a surgical team with confidence and clarity.
You will oversee OR scheduling, staffing, sterile processing, inventory management, OR compliance, patient flow, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and pre/post-op recovery teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations:
β’ Provide direct supervision and support to OR nursing and support staff.
β’ Provide mentorship and support to OR staff to promote a collaborative work environment
β’ Oversee OR scheduling, staff assignments, and daily workflow to ensure efficient case flow.
β’ Foster a collaborative and respectful team environment that promotes staff engagement and accountability.
β’ Ensure the department operates in compliance with state, federal, and accrediting agency standards.
Clinical & Patient Care:
β’ Maintain clinical oversight for all surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.
β’ Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to OR staff.
β’ Participate in surgical case reviews and performance improvement initiatives.
β’ Support pre-op and post-op departments in interdisciplinary communication and handoffs.
Technology & Documentation:
β’ Lead the OR team in accurate and timely documentation within the electronic scheduling and patient communication system.
β’ Ensure staff are trained and proficient in the use of surgical documentation tools.
β’ Collaborate with IT, Clinical Workflow Coordinator, and platform vendors to identify and resolve system issues or improve workflows.
β’ Monitor chart compliance and accuracy of nursing documentation and physician orders.
Hiring & Staff Development
β’ Lead recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of OR personnel
β’ Conduct regular performance evaluations, feedback sessions, and coaching
β’ Identify staff training needs and coordinate continuing education or cross-training opportunities
β’ Address performance issues promptly and professionally, in collaboration with HR
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
β’ Monitor adherence to infection control and patient safety standards.
β’ Conduct regular audits and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and IDPH regulations.
β’ Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives, root cause analyses, and incident reporting.
Supply, Equipment & Resource Management:
β’ Collaborate with materials management to ensure necessary supplies and surgical instruments are available and maintained.
β’ Become proficient in inventory management platforms (Envi and SIS Advanced).
β’ Support the evaluation and implementation of current and new surgical technologies and equipment.
β’ Assist in budget preparation and cost-containment strategies.
Qualifications:
β’ Current RN license in the state of Illinois (or compact license).
β’ Bachelorβs degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
β’ Minimum of 3β5 years of perioperative nursing experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
β’ ASC experience preferred.
β’ Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (The Joint Commission, CMS, IDPH, AMMI).
β’ Proficiency with electronic scheduling and communication platforms; experience withSIS Advance or similar OR documentation systemsis preferred.
β’ BLS and ACLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.

Pay: $97,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year
