Outpatient Primary Care - Huntington VA Medical Center - Prestonsburg, KY

The Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV is recruiting for an Internal Medicine or Family Practice Physician to serve as a full-time primary care physician in their Prestonsburg, KY outpatient clinic. This individual will work five days a week and will work in the Prestonsburg, KY outpatient clinic.

Compensation: $260,000 guaranteed base salary + annual performance bonus (Up to $15,000) + regular salary increases

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): A sign-on bonus of $30,000 may be authorized for highly qualified applicants.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm – Please Note: No evening call or weekend call

Physician Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Average Daily patient census: 11 – 13 patients per day
• Routine history/physical exams
• Provide diagnosis
• Conduct preliminary electrocardiogram interpretation
• Conduct preliminary routine chest, bone and soft tissue x-ray interpretation
• Perform simple suture removal in uncomplicated cases
• Provide provision of treatment including consultation for patients to treat general medical problems
• Be able to perform, in emergency situations, all procedures necessary to stabilize a patient until definitive therapy can be initiated by appropriately trained practitioners.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after the complete review of the EDRP application. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

Preferred Experience:

• The applicant must have successful completion of a (3) year residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
