Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and motivated Outside Salesperson with a strong background in steel fabrication and loading dock equipment? Do you enjoy building and maintaining relationships, traveling within a defined territory, and coordinating projects from start to finish? If so, this opportunity may be for you!

Best Equipment and Welding, a leading Indianapolis company in the loading dock equipment and steel fabrication industry, is seeking an experienced Outside Salesperson. This role will involve a mix of sales, customer relationship management, and project coordination within a defined 100-mile territory in Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky. Some travel to Indianapolis also required. The position offers a unique blend of customer interaction, sales, and project management, with the opportunity to grow and develop in a dynamic environment.

The salary range is 55,000 – 75,000 and based on experience. You will also have access to a robust commission structure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop assigned territory by identifying and developing new customers as well as finding opportunities within existing customers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospects and customers through regular travel, calls, and meetings. 
  • Provide product information and demonstrations to educate customers on benefits of the company’s products and services while submitting proposals that speak to the customer’s needs. 
  • Analyze opportunities which will promote cross-selling of company products and services. 
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare estimates and bid packages.
  • Solicit and compare vendor and subcontractor bids, collaborating with senior management to evaluate project fit, risks, and profit margins.
  • Manage customer expectations, project scopes, delivery, and installation by effectively communicating and collaborating with internal teams and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 3-5+ years of B2B sales experience in industrial equipment, construction, and warehouse projects. A background in steel fabrication estimating is a plus. 
  • Proven ability to present and close sales.
  • Technical proficiency in reading construction plans and steel drawings.
  • Strong skills in Excel and PDF editing.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record. 
  • Self-starter with excellent time management, initiative, and conflict resolution skills.
