Benefits β€’ Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance β€’ Life and Disability Insurance β€’ PTO- Paid time off β€’ On-site medical center β€’ 403b retirement plan β€’ Continuing education programs β€’ Tuition assistance program β€’ Career growth opportunities Salary: Starting at $61500 / Annually - depending on education / experience Job Summary The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and conduct physical education and health classes/activities based on the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) including swimming, for students ages 5-22 who are blind or visually impaired and may have additional intellectual and physical disabilities.Responsibilities: β€’ Implement all therapeutic and behavioral support programs for students in accordance with the student's ability β€’ Teach health and fitness to diverse students β€’ Assist with extracurricular activities as designated β€’ Follows school's policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook β€’ Essential Functions: Develops and implements IEP goals related to Physical Education and Health Classes β€’ Writes weekly PE and health lesson plans, documents student progress, and writes IEP updates and progress reports that are aligned to state standards β€’ Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the students based on their IEP β€’ Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program β€’ Instructs and supervises classroom Paraeducator(s), 1:1's and Intervener(s) on how to support students cultivating physical fitness, hygienic habits and good social and emotional adjustments β€’ Analyzes, demonstrates and explains basic skills, knowledge's and strategies of games rhythms and fundamentals of body movement β€’ Provides age appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of the students β€’ Participates cooperatively with Teachers, Therapists and other members of the team to address student's needs and develop plans according to the IEP goals β€’ Integrates individualized student communication and therapeutic goals into daily lessons β€’ Demonstrates good communication skills written and verbal β€’ Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs β€’ Participates in faculty committees and student sponsored activities β€’ Communicates with Coordinators, Teachers, Therapists, etc on students' progress β€’ Performs other duties as assigned by supervisorQualifications: β€’ Bachelor's Degree, Current Pennsylvania Certification in Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education β€’ 1 - 3 years’ experience working with special needs children and/or young adults visually impaired with multiple disabilities is highly desired β€’ Physical Requirements: Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically pursue clients on foot, physically restrain, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time. β€’ Act 34 Criminal History Background Check Report, Act 114 FBI Criminal History Report & PA Child Abuse Report. β€’ Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
