tms is seeking an intern to support the Packaging Development team for the term June to December in our headquarters located in downtown Chicago's West Loop. This group is responsible for designing and commercializing packaging for the Quick Service and Causal Dining Restaurant Industry. Our interns participate in exciting activities to support our fast-paced business, while working both independently and as part of cross-functional team.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ORGANIZATION
Support Packaging Development team members with the following:

  • Developing/testing for new items on our customers' menus
  • Executing supplier qualifications for existing packaging
  • Developing/testing innovative, compostable packaging alternatives for current packaging
  • Exploring cost-savings or operational improvement opportunities through modification of existing packaging
  • Executing case pack optimization to improve restaurant and/or supplier efficiencies
  • Create and manage packaging specifications
  • Conduct competitive assessments of food service packaging, assemble reports and present findings to team
  • Support consumer Research, focus groups, sensory/kitchen testing set-up, and field testing
  • Coordinate and evaluate 3rdparty lab testing


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE
Successful tms intern candidates meet the following requirements:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Packaging Science or relevant field
  • Completed all prerequisite classes to be eligible by start date
  • Prefer a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrated time management skills through course work and extracurricular activities
  • MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Collaborative/teamwork oriented
