UNC Health / North Carolina Pain Management seeks an experienced Pain Management Physician employed through UNC Health Rex. North Carolina Pain Management is a part of The North Carolina Neuroscience and Spine Center.Â
The North Carolina Neuroscience & Spine Center provides specialized care for individuals with back pain, tailoring treatment solutions to suit each patient’s unique needs. Our dedicated team prioritizes a conservative approach, refraining from rushing into surgical recommendations.Â
We are committed to exploring all available avenues of treatment, collaborating with a range of experts (including pain management specialists, physical therapists, and neurosurgeons to devise a comprehensive care strategy that delivers optimal outcomes.Â
Job ResponsibilitiesÂ
• Discuss medical history with patients to acquire knowledge of healthcare practices.Â
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose pain conditions.Â
• Create and discuss a pain management treatment plan with patients.Â
• Treat patients by employing interventional techniques such as injections and/or other devices.Â
• Prescribe medications, if applicable.Â
• Refer patients for laboratory and diagnostic tests. Assess medical results.Â
• Educate patients on pain management and lifestyle changes.Â
• Communicate pertinent medical records to appropriate specialists as needed.Â
Required Skills and QualificationsÂ
• Strong knowledge of pain mechanisms and pharmacology.Â
• Proficient in interventional pain procedures, joint injections, nerve blocks, and epidural injections.Â
• Working knowledge of medical equipment such as C-Arm.Â
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.Â
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Â
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary care team in a clinic setting.Â
• Strong organizational and time management skills.Â
• Patience, compassion, and the ability to empathize with patients in pain.Â
• Passionate about pain management and dedicated to providing high-quality and safe patient care.Â
Education & Experience RequirementsÂ
• A medical degree from an accredited institution.Â
• Valid state medical license.Â
• Board certification in Pain Management.Â
• Dual board certification – Pain Management and Anesthesia(preferred)Â
• Experience with a wide range of pain management practices.Â
