Part-Time Accountant (Growth to Full-Time)

Position Summary We are seeking a detail-orientedAccountantto join our team on a part-time basis (3 days/week) with growth into a full-time role. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, be highly analytical, and possess the ability to reconcile data, analyze transactions, and maintain audit-ready records across federal and commercial operations. This is akey rolethat supports financial accuracy and compliance, contributes to audit preparation, and ensures proper alignment across purchase journals, cash receipt journals, disbursements, and the general ledger in systems such asProcas, QuickBooks, and banking platforms. Key Responsibilities • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; ensure alignment between ledgers and cash accounts • Review and analyze A/R and A/P reports for accuracy; identify duplicate or incorrect journal entries • Void or adjust transactions in accordance with federal accounting standards and audit compliance • Track and reference cost activity against vendor payments, purchase orders, and disbursements • Collaborate with the COO and Operations team on invoice packages and project cost allocations • Prepare supporting documentation and backup for government contract billing and audits • Generate reports for internal and external review, including general ledger, bank recs, and journals • Maintain transaction reference integrity between linked accounting entries (e.g., PJ to CDJ crosswalks) • Uphold internal financial policies and recommend improvements for process controls and audit readiness Minimum Qualifications • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracting or compliance-driven industries • Proficiency ingeneral ledger management, account reconciliation, and journal entries • Hands-on experience withProcas,QuickBooks, or similar project accounting systems • Strong understanding ofaccrual accounting,cost tracking, andcompliance documentation • Ability to evaluate whether transactions reflect actual cost activity or require reversal • Highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision Preferred Qualifications • Experience with FAR/DFARS cost principles • Background in federal contract billing, indirect rate application, or project cost accounting • Familiarity with Salesforce, Deltek, or other government contract accounting tools • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred but not required) Compensation & Work Structure • Part-Time: 3 days/week, with potential to transition toFull-Timebased on performance and need • Competitive hourly rate based on experience • Paid time off (prorated), federal holidays (as applicable), and pathway to full benefits package • In-office work required; located at our modern HQ in Jacksonville, FL Job Type: Part-time Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week Benefits: • Flexible schedule • On-site gym • On-the-job training • Paid time off • Professional development assistance Schedule: • No weekends Work Location: In person
