Part-Time Personal Chef in Santa Monica

About We are seeking a skilled and reliable part-time personal chef. The role is to provide services for a family with young children at the family’s home in Santa Monica. The initial work hours will be Monday-Friday from 8:00am-12:00pm. The family has specific dietary needs so will provide all recipes and instructions for preparing the meals and snacks. The chef must be comfortable working in a full household. The kitchen is part of an open floor plan and the family is frequently in the kitchen eating meals. The family has a two-year-old and another baby expected in the fall. Both parents are at home, either working or with the children. And the family has a full-time nanny and housekeeper. Therefore, a positive, flexible, and collaborative demeanor is key to thriving in this role. We’re looking forward to working with a chef who is skilled at healthy cooking, who is highly organized, and who brings a professional approach to the household. Responsibilities • Prepare meals for the family by following recipes and written instructions • Prepare food for the baby and toddler • Track food inventory and ensure pantry and kitchen are stocked and highly organized • Shop for groceries to ensure family has all food needed for household • Maintain a neat and clean kitchen (the housekeeper will clean the kitchen when the chef departs, but general tidiness is appreciated while the chef is working) Who You Are: You are a person who: • Is highly organized and detail oriented • Is quick and efficient in the kitchen • Is easy to work with, positive, and respectful towards others • Cares a lot about doing a good job and takes responsibility for your work • Tries to fix problems on your own before asking for help • Is comfortable with being told how to do things better • Asks how you can improve • Is flexible - you can adjust your plans when needed, like being quiet when kids are napping or taking on new recipes or meal requests • Likes being around kids and dogs Requirements You must: • Be a U.S. Citizen or green card holder • Speak and read English very well and easily follow written instructions • Have and maintain your own health insurance • Have a California Driver’s license and car insurance • Be up to date on all vaccinations requested by the family, including TDAP, MMR, Hepatitis A and annual flu and COVID shots • Have strong references from previous chef roles Compensation & Benefits • Compensation commensurate with experience • Two weeks vacation per year • Major holidays off • Paid sick leave Location • Role will be based at the family’s residence in Santa Monica How To Apply: • Send your resume and a cover email telling us why you’d be a great fit for the position [email protected]. • Please include in the cover email your favorite food (just so the family can get to know you) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour Benefits: • Paid time off Schedule: • 4 hour shift Work Location: In person
