Job Title: Payroll & Cost Accountant
Location: Austin, Texas
Reports To: Senior Financial Controller
Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll & Cost Accountant to support our U.S. finance operations. This role will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate employee compensation records, and supporting day-to-day accounting and reconciliation activities. The ideal candidate will have experience with U.S. payroll regulations, a solid accounting background, and a proactive, hands-on approach to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration:
β Accurately process semi-monthly or bi-weekly payroll for U.S.-based employees,
ensuring timely submission and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
β Maintain and update employee compensation records, including salaries, bonuses,
benefits deductions, and withholdings.
β Ensure proper classification of employees (W-2, contractors, etc.), tax setup, and
benefit enrollments.
β Coordinate with HR to validate new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
β Prepare and review payroll reports, including 941s, W-2s, and year-end payroll
reconciliations.
Cost & General Accounting Support:
β Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, accruals, and
month-end close tasks.
β Support account reconciliations related to payroll, benefits, and employee
reimbursements.
β Help track and allocate employee-related costs to appropriate departments or cost
centers.
β Monitor payroll-related GL accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Process Improvement & Compliance:
β Ensure adherence to internal controls over payroll and compensation accounting.
β Identify and propose improvements to streamline payroll and cost accounting
processes.
β Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits related to payroll
and compensation
Qualifications:
β Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
β 3β5 years of payroll and/or general accounting experience, preferably in a U.S.-based
company.
β Solid knowledge of U.S. payroll tax laws, benefit programs, and statutory reporting.
β Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Rippling, etc.) and
accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP).
β Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
β Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
β Experience working in a multi-state payroll environment.
β Exposure to cost accounting or expense allocation practices.
β Understanding of equity or bonus compensation accounting is a plus.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
