- Manage employee relations work across Windsor Communities to assist employees and managers in resolving issues and grievances.
- Conduct investigations and provide recommendations on next steps. Provide appropriate coaching and development feedback to managers and employees.
- Process and facilitate leave of absence requests and communicate updates with managers, as applicable.
- Help counsel employees on issues related to EEO, ADA, performance, and termination guidelines.
- Facilitate Windsor’s Performance Management process by providing feedback and signing off on performance related documents.
- Work with managers and supervisors to ensure they are following our process.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to managers during a Performance Improvement Plan.
- Assist managers with effective goal setting and feedback.
- Interact with varied levels of management to resolve escalated issues. Work with Legal Counsel on employee-related issues as necessary.
- Regularly inform AVP of Human Resources of key issues and challenges to inform strategic decisions.
- Provide recommendations to improve systems and process improvement, turnover, retention, and other employee relations components.
- Communicate difficult information with clarity and composure. Adjust overall communication style to the audience, as needed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all employee relations work.
- Provide ongoing data insights to AVP of Human Resources for insights and analysis.
- Become an expert in Document Manager, our UKG file management system.
- Partner with the L&D department to design and deliver training programs that enhance leadership and managerial skills.
- Contribute to the creation of scalable HR training resources for employees and managers, ensuring consistency in messaging and application.
- Identify training needs based on employee relations trends and collaborate on tailored solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and kindly.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships, collaborate effectively, and foster trust and open communication across all levels of the organization.
- Deep understanding of employment laws and regulations with specific experience in California employment law.
- Proven expertise in handling complex employee relations cases, including investigations and conflict resolution.
- High level of emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgement.
- Desire and ability to learn and grow professionally.
- HR Certification (i.e., SHRM or SPHR).
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision making. Proficiency in UKG and other relevant software and applications (Smartsheet, Excel).
- Experience with compensation planning and analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
