Physical Education/Sensory Support Specialist Teacher

BCA is seeking a compassionate and dynamicSensory Support Specialistto facilitate structured sensory-based activities in our gross motor room. This role is essential in supporting students; sensory regulation, motor skill development, and emotional well- being for Preschool and PreK students at BCA. The ideal candidate will foster an environment that promotes body awareness, balance, and coordination, while also offering strategies for calm-down and movement-based needs. Key Responsibilities:  Lead engaging, structured sessions in the gross motor room tailored to students sensory and motor development goals.  Implement activities that support sensory regulation and help build foundational motor skills.  Guide students in developing body awareness, balance, and coordination through movement-based exercises.  Provide a welcoming, regulated space for students to access calm-down strategies and sensory support tools.  Collaborate with other staff to ensure the motor room is effectively utilized when not in use for specialist sessions, including reserving space for indoor movement breaks, small group work, or emotional regulation time. Qualifications:  Background in occupational therapy, physical education, behavioral support, or a related field (preferred but not required).  Strong understanding of sensory processing needs in children.  Experience working with diverse learners, especially in educational or therapeutic settings.  Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and adapt strategies to individual student needs.  Positive, proactive, and flexible attitude. Work Environment: The Sensory Support Specialist will be an integral part of a nurturing, student-centered team for Preschool and Pre-K classrooms. The gross motor room will function as a shared resource, with scheduled times for specialist-led sessions and opportunities for other staff to utilize the space for various wellness and learning activities.
