This position serves as a liaison and educator for medical staff, advising on care coordination, resource use, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Highlights of the Role:

• Advisory & Leadership: Collaborate with medical staff, care coordination, and hospital leadership to enhance clinical efficiency and care quality.
• Utilization Management: Guide appropriate resource use, review medical necessity, and support denial management and appeals.
• Physician Education: Provide clinical documentation education and promote best practices in utilization, compliance, and patient care.
• Peer Support: Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, peer review, and regulatory preparation.
• Data-Driven: Leverage tools like MCG/InterQual to support decisions and improve outcomes.

Qualifications:

Required:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
• Current license to practice medicine in Oregon (or eligibility to obtain)
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an inpatient or hospital-based setting

Preferred:

• Previous experience as a Physician Advisor or in care management/utilization review
• Familiarity with MCG, InterQual, Epic EMR
• Certification in clinical documentation improvement, utilization review, or healthcare quality (e.g., ABQAURP or similar)
• Membership in the American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA)
