Platform Manager

The D. E. Shaw group (“DESCO”) seeks a talented and highly motivated individual to join its venture studio group, DESCOvery. DESCOvery ideates, researches, and builds out innovative, technology-oriented businesses and ventures in areas such as fintech, insurtech, and data. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

You’ll be a key member of an entrepreneurial team that supports the growth and evolution of new start-up businesses within our portfolio. You’ll be responsible for providing operational support to these start-ups through building and maintaining our expert, vendor, and talent networks, and by using industry best practices to improve processes. You’ll partner with entrepreneurs and founders throughout the start-up life cycle to build their management teams, develop a network of valuable resources, and solve complex problems.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and a record of academic and professional achievement.
• Between one to four years of work experience is required, with at least one of them in a similar role.
• Ambitious, creative, and entrepreneurial individuals with proven project management acumen, well-developed communication abilities, and an eye for process improvements are highly sought-after.
• The ability to collaborate with stakeholders of varying seniorities and manage competing priorities is essential, as is keen attention to detail.
• Experience with venture capital firms, start-up incubators, or start-ups is crucial.
• The expected annual base salary for this position is $80,000 to $130,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, a relocation bonus, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
