This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Positions are located at Ft Myer with travel to Ft McNair.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

- This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
- This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
- This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate an Emergency Vehicle when patrolling and must successfully complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course.
- At the GS-07 level: This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties and maintain certification thereafter.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience at the GS-06 grade: One year of specialized experience which includes experience 1) Maintaining order and protecting life; (2) Responding to citizens in emergency/non-emergency situations; and (3) Protecting of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Specialized Experience at the GS-07 grade: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1)Conducting law enforcement traffic patrol;(2)Enforcing traffic codes; and (3) Exercising arrest authority. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS. The work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more. It requires stamina, physical agility and dexterity and the strength to pursue, apprehend or detain. The incumbent may be required to push or drag heavy weights of 150 pounds or more and defend oneself or others against physical attack.

- At the GS-07 level: This position requires the incumbent to be successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date; or is a current employee and is considered grandfathered IAW AR 190-56, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
