Portfolio Analyst

Hiscox Re & ILS is the reinsurance and insurance-linked strategy business unit within Hiscox Group. Our team of circa 130 curious and collaborative individuals are committed to providing top quality services to brokers, clients, quota share partners and ILS investors through an innovative range of reinsurance products and third-party capital opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Reporting: Produce and maintain regular and ad-hoc reports to develop insights and enhance investor experience.
• Portfolio Management Support: Assist the investment team with regular portfolio management tasks, business planning and portfolio optimization.
• Investor Analytics: Work closely with Investor Relations and Business Development team to produce exhibits for existing investors and material for marketing to prospects.
• Data Management: Manage and analyse large datasets to support portfolio management and business decisions.
• Systems Development, Automation and AI Integration: Collaborate with software developers to enhance and develop proprietary systems. Stay abreast of latest AI trends and technologies and incorporate them into portfolio management as appropriate. 

Skills and Qualifications:

• A degree in physical sciences, mathematics, statistics, finance or an investment qualification is desirable. Advanced degrees or professional qualifications are advantageous.
• Strong computing skills, including intermediate SQL, Excel and experience with advanced programming languages (e.g. VBA, Python, R, or C#) required. Experience with machine learning and data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) are beneficial
• Strong analytical reasoning skills and the ability to manipulate large data sets.
• Interest in Asset Management, Atmospheric or Geophysical sciences, or Reinsurance is beneficial.
• Can demonstrate commercial awareness.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
