Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care nursing, with experience in managing patients recovering from anesthesia. This role requires excellent assessment skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care. You will be responsible for monitoring patients post-surgery, managing pain, and ensuring their comfort and safety during recovery. Responsibilities • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-anesthesia. • Administer medications and manage IV infusions as per physician orders. • Provide acute pain management and support for patients recovering from surgery. • Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify any complications or changes in condition. • Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. • Document all patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. • Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery processes. • Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols. • Participate in discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care as necessary. Qualifications • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. • Experience in critical care, PACU, or similar nursing environments preferred. • Proficiency with EMR systems; familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding is a plus. • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. • Skills in IV insertion, medication administration, phlebotomy, and airway management. • Experience with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and those with developmental disabilities is desirable. • Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and manage complex patient needs including those requiring dialysis or ventilator support. • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams. • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
