JOB SUMMARY: RN, VIS
General Summary of Duties:In accordance with the mission of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons. The VIS RN will coordinate patient care in the procedural setting; organize daily schedules for patient cases and functions within the standards and guidelines of the organization. The VIS RN has the administrative responsibility, authority, and accountability for the functions of the procedural room staff, which is delineated in writing under policies and procedures of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. RN is responsible for determining the competency level of assistive personnel to whom delegation pertains to. Maintaining quality care, use of cost effective practice in daily routine, and ensuring positive guest relations.
2. Responsible for assessment, pre procedure, intra procedure, and post procedure patient care, utilizing the nursing process to ensure safety and the highest level of attentiveness in the VIS setting.
3. Responsible for monitoring post sheath removal which will require maintaining hemodynamic stability of patient.
4. Ability to recognize and initiate need for proper intervention, updating MD on patient status and carrying out orders in a precise and timely manner, and documenting per CTVS’s P&P.
5. Proficiency in IV skills and medication administration within his/her scope of practice.
6. Assisting physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient assurance.
7. Maintaining record of stock items and medications ensuring adequate par levels for the department.
8. Ability to adapt and respond to emergent situations appropriately to promote excellent patient outcomes.
9. Delegating judiciously to staff in accordance with their job description, license requirements, and standard of practice.
10. Provide emotional support and educating patients and their family of their condition increasing awareness and prevention.
11. Understanding and use of universal precautions and radiation protection. RN will admit, discharge, and transport patients as required.
12. Other duties as required and/or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical proficiency for all angiogram procedures.
2. Able to adapt to changes in work tasks or environment; adjusting effectively to carry on within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
3. Develops and applies collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work objectives.
4. Ability to work independently or as a team to accomplish our goal of providing excellent patient care.
Qualifications:
1. Must be licensed in the state of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
2. Maintain Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
