Pre-Roll Specialist

Position Overview 

• Manage Motif’s pre-roll vendors from a technical standpoint (Subject Matter Expert) 
• Ensure all product specs are being met both externally from vendors and internally from Operations functions
• Assist with any hurdles (technical and process) that threaten the production schedule; technical, process and product launches
• Order change parts as needed for new products or capacity expansion 
• Manage consumables and spare parts to minimize equipment or process downtime 
• Perform scale-up runs on new products before handover to Operations 
• Perform regular audits of external vendor’s processes and products 
• Scope out pre-roll equipment for the purposes of rolling out internally 
• Optimize equipment selection/layout for throughput, cost to produce and flexibility
• Continuous improvement of processes to improve costs, product consistency, and format adaptability 
• Lead the commissioning of novel pre-roll equipment with external equipment vendors with other members of the Engineering group 
• Write and edit Work instructions on equipment use 
• Train staff on equipment operation and troubleshooting 
• Analyze KPI’s to prioritize improvement projects 
• Work to identify and remove barriers and bottlenecks from the preroll process end-to-end 
• Support collection and reporting of production data through ERP and other tools 
• Track and report on SRED eligible expenses 
• Other duties as required or assigned 
• On site roll that will require travel to vendors or suppliers as needed 

 Required Skills 

• Experience within Cannabis industry in a similar role is preferred
• B. Eng in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or other related discipline; P. Eng preferred. 
• 3-5 years in manufacturing environment (oil & gas, laboratory, or pharmaceutical) 
• Experience with commissioning, operating and maintaining automated pre-roll equipment 
• Experience with process optimization and project management required 
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude required 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Must be able to communicate objectives and track progress on continuous improvement projects 
• Positive attitude with strong communication skills 
• Strong time management skills including ability to multitask and prioritize 
• Shows initiative and ownership of work and willingness to learn 
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word 
• Required to pass a criminal background check 
• Ability to travel within and outside of Canada on occasion
