Job Description
MBMA is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and energeticElementary Physical Education (PE) Teacherto develop and implement a well-rounded physical education program for students in grades preschool –6th. The successful candidate will foster a love of movement and physical activity, sports, promote lifelong fitness habits, and help students develop motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The PE Teacher will play a vital role in supporting the physical, social, and emotional well-being of young children, contributing to their overall growth and academic performance. The ideal candidate is passionate about health and fitness, understands child development, and can create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where all students feel confident and motivated.
Key Responsibilities:Curriculum Development & Instruction:
• Plan, organize, and deliver age-appropriate physical education lessons aligned with state and national standards (e.g., SHAPE America Standards).
• Teach fundamental movement skills, locomotor and non-locomotor skills, hand-eye coordination, fitness concepts, and cooperative games.
• Design units that incorporate a variety of physical activities including dance, sports, gymnastics, fitness circuits, and outdoor play.
• Integrate health education topics such as nutrition, safety, hygiene, and wellness when applicable.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning needs, physical abilities, and developmental levels.
Assessment & Student Progress:
• Monitor student growth using formal and informal assessment tools.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student performance and effort.
• Maintain accurate records of participation, progress, and behavior.
• Communicate with parents/guardians as needed regarding student development and class updates.
Classroom and Environment Management:
• Establish clear routines, rules, and safety protocols to maintain a respectful and structured learning environment.
• Ensure the safety and proper use of PE equipment and facilities.
• Promote positive social interactions, teamwork, cooperation, and inclusion among students.
• Address behavioral issues with consistency and compassion, in line with school policy.
Collaboration & School Involvement:
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and support staff to ensure the physical education program supports students’ overall development.
• Participate in faculty meetings, staff development days, parent conferences, and school-wide events.
• Contribute to wellness initiatives, field days, after-school clubs, and school assemblies promoting health and fitness.
Professional Development & Growth:
• Stay current on best practices in physical education, motor development, and fitness instruction.
• Attend professional workshops, conferences, and certification programs as needed.
• Incorporate new techniques and technologies (e.g., heart rate monitors, fitness apps, interactive games) to enhance instruction.
Qualifications:Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Valid teaching credential or certification in Physical Education (california state).
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Experience working with children in an educational or coaching capacity.
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related discipline.
• Experience teaching physical education at the elementary level.
• Training in adaptive physical education and inclusive practices.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning (SEL) in physical education.
• Basketball, Soccer coaching experience

• High level of energy, enthusiasm, and a love for physical activity and teaching children.
• Ability to foster student motivation and self-confidence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and planning abilities.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered instruction.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
• Work is conducted mostly outdoors, and some classroom settings.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 30 pounds.
• Frequent movement, standing, running, bending, and demonstrating physical activities.
• May require exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Compensation and Benefits:

• Compensation is based on experience and education.
