Job Description

NVIDIA has continuously reinvented itself over two decades. Our invention of the GPU in 1999 sparked the growth of the PC gaming market, redefined modern computer graphics, and revolutionized parallel computing. More recently, GPU deep learning ignited modern AI — the next era of computing. NVIDIA is a “learning machine” that constantly evolves by adapting to new opportunities that are hard to solve, that only we can tackle, and that matter to the world. This is our life’s work, to amplify human creativity and intelligence. Make the choice and join us today! This is a dynamic team working with state of the art, unique technology. If you are someone that loves a challenge, come join this diverse team and help move the needle! We are looking for a senior engineer to be part of the mixed-signal design team building next generation NVLINK. This position offers the opportunity to have real impact in a dynamic, technology-focused company impacting product lines ranging from consumer graphics to self-driving cars and the growing field of artificial intelligence.

Are you a Hardware System Architect? We are part of the global engineering team at NVIDIA that designs state-of-the-art GPUs for all applications, such as supercomputers, gaming consoles, and self-driving cars. Come join us in our mission to Engineer the next generation of best-in-class products. Our team's focus is on the architecture and design of CMOS and Silicon-Photonics high-speed chip interfaces (NVLink, IEEE, PCIE, USB, OIF) and other complex photonic functions. You will have the opportunity to define product architectures, work on developing high-speed active and passive photonics components, and contribute to the development of the next-generation photonics program. You will be the key interface with stakeholders and leadership internally and externally.

What you will be doing:

  • Identify optical technologies, quantify their value and prioritize them for future datacenter usages.

  • Recommend a product intercept strategy based on conducting comprehensive trade-off analysis of optical technology options.

  • Propose Proof of Concept (POC) / prototyping frameworks for the rigorous evaluation of optical technologies.

  • Engage with optical technology vendors and conduct detailed analysis of competing technologies.

  • Supervise end-end design of next-generation optical systems

  • Work with connector vendors, laser suppliers, and package teams

What we need to see:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • 8+ years of experience in the development of silicon photonics ICs from concept to high-volume manufacturing

  • In-depth knowledge of photonic device physics, semiconductor laser, and device physics

  • Extensive (8+ years) experience in in designing, simulating, and testing high-speed optical modulators for 50+Gbaud in Si, IIIV, and other material systems including micro-ring, Mach-Zehnder, and electro-absorption modulators

  • Experience in architecting, designing, and taping out PICs; PIC test data analysis and design optimization

  • Proven track record of ownership of integrated silicon photonics components.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate in cross-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability & desire to work as a great teammate are huge plus.

The base salary range is 232,000 USD - 356,500 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
