About this Opportunity:

The Principal Platform Engineer is a z/OS operating system storage architect on the Mainframe Storage team. The team provides technical support for all data storage related to the mainframe. This includes the disk storage subsystems, virtual tape systems, ficon switch infra-structure and object storage subsystems. The team also provides support to the Mainframe Performance team.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of mainframe storage management. This includes researching, architecting, installing, networking, programming, maintaining, administrating, operating, and monitoring all storage related hardware and software associated with storage for the enterprise.
• Responsible for customer/user interfacing, storage allocations, day-to-day operations, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning and execution as it relates to the storage environment.
• Capable of representing the area in meetings with both vendors and with other areas of the company such as Applications Development, Project Planning, IT Operations, and Facilities. Will be responsible for managing projects, and assuring timelines are met in accordance with project management standards. Expected to be able to create and update technical documentation.
• Knowledge of current and leading technologies in all areas of Information Systems through vendor demonstrations, trade show exhibits, professional society memberships (etc), enabling them to assess trends and technologies and their application within the DTCC environment. Also required to mitigate risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.

Sound Like You?

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience
• Strong knowledge of z/OS internals, software and hardware architecture, including strong problem diagnosis skills.
• Strong understanding of many of the following storage hardware technologies: EMC Symmetrix (including its replication features), EMC, Brocade DCX, IBM TS7700.
• Strong understanding of many of the following storage software technologies: DFSMS (including SMS ACS code and constructs), DFSMSdss, DFSMShsm, CA-1, CR Plus, IBM utilities
• Knowledge of the following would be a plus: SQL, Assembler, COBOL, DTS Software ACC and SRS products,RACF
• REXX/SAS programming skills
• Knowledge of Performance tools Mainview
• Software installs SMP/E
• Ability to mentor junior staff members.
• Experience with MS Office
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
