Principal Software Engineer

Note: This is a full-time remote role. This person must be located in the United States.

We are looking for a Principal Software engineer to build a training platform for our cloud-first command and control software. Hypergiant with its partners is building an innovative cloud-first command and control system that seamlessly integrates existing capabilities and provides automation that improves efficiency and effectiveness of mission planning and execution. A perfect candidate is able to write high-quality code, integrate with partner capability providers, and ensure code and product quality. This position will work closely alongside product owners, designers, and internal leadership on critical training software.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Meet with clients (business and technical) and extract information necessary to document architecture encompassing business processes and systems. 
• Extract business and system challenges through client interviews. 
• Create diagrams of enterprise architecture. 
•  Develop working prototypes of ML-deployment and data-ingestion integrations and lead a team of engineers in ongoing refinement and productionalization of those prototypes.
• Work with AI Platform teams to identify and prioritize integration opportunities within the larger ML-on-the-edge and IoT ecosystem

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software design and development. 
• 7+ years of experience working on system architecture, and integration with thirdparty APIs. 
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field; Master’s Degree or additional advanced degrees & certifications are preferred. 
• Experience with containers and OCI-based runtimes (k8s, podman, docker, etc.). • Experience developing file-transfer and data-streaming architectures. 
• Experience integrating with third-party authentication surfaces. 
• Understanding of the ML production ecosystem (data ingestion, inferencing, monitoring, etc.) 
• Familiarity with a wide range of database technologies and their pros / cons. 
• Comfortable doing research and synthesizing your thoughts and roadmapping. 
• Must have good business acumen, strong interviewing skills and excellent communication skills (including active listening). 
• Ability to determine and effectively implement third party or open source software solutions. 
• Demonstrated experience in managing, mentoring & coaching development teams in an Agile environment. 
• Ability to manage client expectations and project timelines.
• Ability to architect complex and performant Python applications. 
• Proficient with version control and effective collaborative development workflows.
• Penchant for learning new technologies, balanced with strong pragmatic thinking.

Clearance Information: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
