Principal Software Engineer

Choozle is looking for an individual that is eager to grow with our Engineering team as we liberate marketers from complex advertising technology. As a Principle Engineer for Choozle, you will be responsible for delivering enterprise-level software solutions in a collaborative and rapidly changing environment. This position requires a highly motivated and focused technical individual who has a passion to build new and innovative adtech. Outside of being an outstanding software engineer, candidates must have strong communication skills, technical project management experience, ability to mentor others, and enjoy working closely with subject matter experts in their respective fields.

SALARY $150,000 to $180,000

LOCATION Denver, CO / Remote

This role will either be hybrid or remote based on location

SKILLS THAT WILL HELP YOU IN THIS ROLE

• Deep knowledge of server-side technologies such as Golang, Node, Ruby on Rails, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of demonstrated work experience with Golang
  • Demonstrated work experience with meeting build standards; like code coverage minimums
• Strong knowledge of front-end technologies such as React, MaterialUI, Redux, or equivalent
• Deep experience with GCP (GCE, GKE, CloudSQL, Cloud Memorystore, VPC, CloudDNS, Operation Suite), Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Ubuntu 18/20, Docker, git, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Beanstalk, Nginx, MySQL, Firebase, Snowflake, ArgoCD, Vercel, Redis, DataDog, and AlloyDB
• Deep understanding of software best-practices including architecture and design patterns with a focus on security, performance, reusability, scalability, and extendability; specifically within a microservices architecture
• Experience with Postman, DataDog, SQL Optimization, FlywayDB
• Thorough understanding of Infrastructure Engineering technologies such as GCP/AWS VPC networking, TCP/IP, NAT, firewalling, VPN, cloud-based load balancers, storage, monitoring, security best practices
•  
• Demonstrated work experience with a balanced portfolio of of DevOps technologies with some or all of the following:
  • CI/CD 
  • Infrastructure as code
  • Basic DBA knowledge
  • Networking
  • Messaging / Queueing System
• Thorough understanding of iterative software development methodologies, values, and ceremonies such as Agile
• Preferred, Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science or a closely related discipline and/or 7+ years of demonstrated experience in software development

• Bonus: experience with LaunchDarkly

WHAT YOU’LL DO IN YOUR CHOOZLE POSITION

• Maintain and improve the health, stability and security of our revenue-generating, high-traffic production environments
• Configure and automate the provisioning of GCP resources
• Create and maintain monitoring solutions and instrument applications to provide insights into application performance and to understand emerging issues
• Continuously identify and methodically improve cloud infrastructure for all systems through best practices and continuous process improvements
• Enterprise-level full stack development; majority of work will be backend focused though
• Provide technical feedback, code reviews, and consultation to other engineers involved in system design or implementation activities
• Technical project leadership; drive the testing strategies and own the performance plans
• Build prototypes and determine level of effort, feasibility, and cost
• Provide education and mentorship for other engineers
• Create technical specifications and candidate architecture proposals
• Engagement with Executive team to provide technical feasibility, level of effort, and cost
• Collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams including all Media/Advertising teams (Ad Server, Web Engineering and Data Engineering) to build upon existing products, brainstorm creative solutions for new products, and to share technical learnings with each other
