Process Safety Specialist

Job Description

Organon is hiring a Process Safety Specialist to join our world class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this role, you will be providing the site with process safety advice and guidance and make recommendations for improvement to the Engineering, Projects and site operations groups. This is to include all business functions in integrating PSM activities in accordance with best industry practice across the site and further development of site Process Safety Management Systems.
 

Role Responsibilities:

• Develop and implementation of the sites Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
• Lead on all site aspects of process safety management including advice and guidance for operations & projects.
• Ownership of the site EPD, ensuring routine review and updates including material flammability data is known, or tested to confirm data properties.
• Provide expertise or support externally resourced process safety risk assessments at the required frequency: HAZOP, LOPA, ATEX/DSEAR.
• Provide technical information and be the “intelligent customer” when using 3rd parties e.g. PHA’s, Mechanical ignition risk assessments.
• Ensure process safety documentation delivered by projects is accurate and maintained.
• Collaboration with required site and global functions, including providing updates to site leadership and global leadership teams.
• Oversee and check the application of process safety elements during process design and project development.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• Knowledge of Hazardous Areas controls to support hazardous area system improvements.
• Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrable experience in process Engineering discipline.
